Christian Education is a partnership between students, faculty and parents that provides an opportunity for the students to learn and experience academics, athletics, and fine arts through a biblical worldview and in the presence of Christ-honoring faculty.
A Greater Works Christian School education is a unique opportunity to experience a fine education but with the advantage of the core of biblical truth at the center of the curriculum and woven throughout the curriculum.
As a Christ-honoring school, our educational philosophy is shaped by the Bible, which we believe to be the inerrant, infallible Word of Almighty God.
And Jesus grew in wisdom and stature, and in favor with God and men. Luke 2:52
The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom, and knowledge of the Holy One is understanding. Proverbs 9:10
The fear of the Lord is the beginning of knowledge; fools despise wisdom and instruction. Proverbs 1:7
The Bible is foundational and imperative to an excellent Christian education! We believe the Holy Scriptures is the only infallible rule of faith and practice. The schools central goal is to bring every student to the point of maturity where they glorify God in the totality of their life. All human and spiritual resources of this institution will be directed toward this end.
We believe that our students should be well prepared to become successful contributors to their world. To do this, they need to understand the world in which they live. Their worldview should reflect the fact that Gods Kingdom (in which Christ is King) is over all. A Christian philosophy of education is at the core of all areas of study. True Christian education is not simply a curriculum which contains a Bible class. It is a manner of teaching in which students are led to make sense of the universe and their place in it by filtering their learning through Gods word. This understanding leads to the desire to worship God and His son Jesus Christ.
Bible and Chapel – We want our students to know the truth of God. We want them to know the saving grace of Jesus Christ. We want them to develop a Godly perspective and a biblical world and life view. Jesus replied, “Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind.” Matthew 22:37 “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.” Matthew 28:16-20
Arts – Recognizing Gods gifts of music, dance, and the visual arts by helping students use their talents to honor and worship Him.
Character – We want our students to learn the principles of honesty, decency, cooperation, fair play and integrity because God has declared that these are standards by which we are to live our lives.
Economics – God’s order of commerce and trade, as revealed in the Old and New Testament. Government Civil government, as ordained by God for certain specific purposes. We want our students to know that true government is ordained by God and requires our loyalty and support.
Health and Exercise – Finding Gods plan for nutrition and health as well as the protection of our minds and bodies.
History – Gods plan for the world and the redemption of His people. We want our students to see the unfolding of Gods plan for the ages and the redemption and salvation of His people.
Literature – To apply Christian standards to the written word. We want our students to test other writers by Christian standards in order to appreciate what is good and true and beautiful and discern what is false or dishonoring to God.
Math – God’s constancy in an unstable world. The perfect creation and plan of God is revealed through mathematics.
Science – God’s universal laws and the truth of creation. He is the author and sustainer of life and absolutes. We want our students to know that they are studying Gods Laws for the universe.
Train up a child in the way he should go; and when he is old, he will not depart from it. Proverbs 22:6
