About GWCS

About GWCS

Since 1981, our desire at Greater Works Christian School has been to impart to our students, through both teaching and personal example, a Christ-like approach to life and learning. In dealing with all of the many challenges life has to offer, we believe that true happiness and success are based on accepting Jesus Christ as your personal Savior, studying the Word of God, seeking the Lord’s guidance, and applying His wisdom in all situations. GWCS creates an environment for students to build Faith, Knowledge, and Character. Enrollment is open to all students; you do not need to be a member of Greater Works Church to attend GWCS.

We are a private Christian school serving children located in Monroeville, Pa. on a beautiful 50-acre facility. We bus students in a 10-mile radius from our campus from the following school districts: Burrell, East Allegheny, Franklin Regional, Gateway, Greensburg Salem, Hempfield, Kiski, McKeesport, Norwin, Penn Hills, Penn Trafford, Pittsburgh Public, Plum, and Woodland Hills.

Our students are from diverse backgrounds and we educate students from Threes Program – 8th grade. This type of setting is perfect not only for the average and gifted students but for students who struggle in their academics as well. Class sizes range from 5 to 14 students.

GWCS is a member of the Association of Christian Schools International (ACSI). Our curriculum is carefully selected to provide a strong academic and biblical foundation for students. We use Positive Action for Bible instruction, helping students develop a biblical worldview and Christ-centered character. Our Math and English Language Arts curriculum is i-Ready, which provides engaging, standards-aligned instruction tailored to student needs. For science, we use Purposeful Design, integrating scientific exploration with a Christian perspective. Our history curriculum is Abeka, offering a comprehensive study of historical events and cultures with a Christian perspective. In addition to our core curriculum, we enhance learning with supplemental resources such as Spectrum Spelling workbooks and Scholastic Science Spin and Let’s Find Out magazines, which provide engaging opportunities to build literacy, vocabulary, and content-area knowledge. Students are equipped with Chromebooks on a 1:1 ratio in intermediate education and a 1:3 ratio in elementary education.

We offer a positive, nurturing, safe Christian environment where young lives are encouraged and helped to do their best academically, mature socially and emotionally, and grow in their spiritual walk with God so they will be equipped to reach their full potential. As you begin to review our website you will find that we offer daily bible/chapel classes, missions/evangelism classes, character development, and qualified and experienced certified Christian-committed teachers. Students participate in physical education, art, and Spanish classes that promote healthy development and broaden their cultural awareness. Students also have opportunities to develop their musical talents and confidence through two school-wide concerts each year.
